What is the cost?
You would think that is an easy answer, wouldn't you!? Actually, my rates vary quite a bit depending on subject, time of year, and a variety of other factors. Sessions can range from $200 - $800 for portrait sessions, $1,000 - $3,000 for weddings and $400 - $1,500 for editorials. I also do a lot of donated sessions for causes I hold dear, such as military, law enforcement, adoption and special needs. (You can learn more about that on my giving back page.) To learn about rates for YOUR session, simply drop me a message on my contact page)
What locations do you shoot?
I am currently based in Burnsville, however, I work with clients throughout the Twin Cities metro and beyond. I am always open to new locations and eager to see every inch of this glorious state! Most sessions take place between Minneapolis and Saint Paul, however the exact location is based on the needs and preferences of my clients. I am willing to travel as needed.
What is included in my session fee?
Your session fee includes the following:
- 12-50 high resolution images. (Dependent on session you select)
- Matching low resolution images of all files for posting to social media.
- All images are fully retouched.
- Print release allowing you to print images at your favorite location.
- Access to high quality prints through my print agency. (No purchase required with session)
- A special package of gift prints included.
If I do not need prints, is my session fee reduced?
Sorry, but no. Prints are my gift to you. Too often these days, we reduce our photos to Facebook or a pile of CDs that eventually get lost or forgotten. Gone are the days of photo albums and accidental treasures in the bottom of a box. So, consider these a legacy. They are not yours, but rather a gift to your children and future grandchildren!
When is my payment due?
Portrait session fees are due at the time your portraits are taken. Wedding photography payments are divided into 4, with 25% due at the time the contract is signed and the final 25% due after your wedding.
Payments are accepted in cash, check and major credit card.
How long will it take to get my photos?
Sneak peak images are typically posted to my blog and/or Facebook within 72 hours!
Typical turnaround time for a final collection is 4-6 weeks; for a print package it is 2 weeks. However, as a sole photographer, I am unable to make any guarantees on final delivery. Life sometimes gets in the way! But, I promise to do my best to get them to you as soon as I am able or seek extra help to get it done within identified deadlines.
If it was a test/model session with donated time, those sessions can take longer for turnaround to address time for editorial tests and trials and the priority of paid work. You may have those images as short as 2 weeks or as long as a year. Simply depends on the nature of the comp shoot, my workload at the time and the editing trials being explored on your session.
Where can I have my photos taken?
While I do have studio lighting and equipment, 99% of my work is on location. I will travel anywhere within the north Metro at no additional charge. If we are going beyond Minneapolis / St. Paul or 25 minutes from Burnsville, additional mileage charges may apply.
If you are looking for ideas, let me know. I can help suggest locations that can set you in:
- Nature settings (such as Dodge Nature Center, Hidden Falls, Minneopa Falls, etc)
- Urban metropolitan (downtown Minneapolis, Central Library, Union Depot, etc)
- Grunge or textured environments (such as Mill City Ruins or Lowertown)
- Vintage locations (such at Hot Sams, Northfield)
I maintain a collection of scouting photography which will help you see the potential of a location BEFORE we get there!
How many clothing changes can I have?
You decide! If you book for me for 2 hours, I am at your service for 2 hours. So, you can change as often as you like! Just keep in mind that if you spend 45 minutes changing, that will greatly limit the amount of time we have for actual photography in a 2 hour session. (So, I recommend no more than 3 outfits.)
Can I have my friend/boyfriend in a photo?
Of course! I will shoot whomever and whatever you ask. However, the more subjects I have to pose and work with, the less time it allows for just you! If you want to have a friend or boyfriend in the photos, I only ask to be informed in advance so that I can plan the session effectively.
If you bring along friends and family during the shoot, I simply ask that they not take pictures while I am. It is a distraction to both of us and can affect the outcome of a shoot. Prom is the exception! I will always allow extra time in setups for parents to grab a couple shots.
Who owns the finished image?
I retain full ownership of all photographs taken. You will receive copies of high resolution images for your own personal use and a print release so you can print them and post them to social media. However, you are prohibited from selling or manipulating the images in any manner which would destroy the original artistic intent of any photograph without prior written permission.
You will be asked to sign a model release prior to our session confirming your understanding of this. If you are under 18, your parent will be required to sign on your behalf.
